Construction Safety Training (CSTS-09) Online

The Construction Safe Training System (CSTS-09) course will review the common hazards of a jobsite and how to avoid them. Each lesson includes several question and answer scenarios that workers may encounter on the jobsite.

Pipeline Construction Safety Traning (PCST) – Online

This course will help you learn how to respond to pipeline worksite health and safety issues by reviewing the entire pipeline construction process from beginning to end. This course will guide you through the safety issues that you might encounter on a pipeline construction site.

Cross Connection (Full) Course

This course will help you learn how to respond to pipeline worksite health and safety issues by reviewing the entire pipeline construction process from beginning to end. This course will guide you through the safety issues that you might encounter on a pipeline construction site.

Cross Connection Re-Certification Course

This course is for active BCWWA Backflow Assembly Testers who are required to re-certify. Active testers are required to re-certify every five (5) years upon notice from BCWWA.   If unsure of status please contact BC Water & Waste Association at (604) 433-4389.  This course reviews current BCWWA test procedures preparing students to write for cross connection control re-certification.

Gas A

This program is for members who have their Class “B” Gasfitter certificate and have sufficient hours and experience to challenge the Class “A” Gasfitter exam. Class ‘A’ Gas Fitters may perform the installation or alteration of any gas system without input limitation (except vehicle fuel systems under the appropriate permit).

Gas B

This course will provide the technical knowledge and will demonstrate how to install, test, maintain, assemble, construct, operate, alter and repair propane and natural-gas regulated products, such as appliances, supply lines, equipment and accessories for use in residential and commercial premises.

H2S Alive

This one day course is mandatory for all workers in the petroleum industry who may be exposed to environments where Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) is present. Students will be shown how to operate electronic detector devices and tube type detectors. This is an approved ENFORM H2S Alive course.

NAUSC Foreman’s Course

This course provides training that will assist journeypersons who would like to move into supervisory roles on the jobsite. This course will demonstrate how journeypersons can take leadership roles in working with crews of industry workers and will provide the initial supervisory skills needed to fulfill the requirements of this position.

NAUSC/UA P.I.P.E.S. Rigging Program

The UA NAUSC CSA P.I.P.E.S. Rigger Program teaches advanced skills and techniques needed to complete rigging operations safely and securely. The certification is designed specifically by and for Journeypersons in the piping industry; teaching Occupational Health and Safety requirements, along with the latest proven rigging techniques found in the field.

NAUSC-CSA Medical Gas

A partnership has been formed with CSA Group, the United Association Canada (UA) and the National Association of Union Schools and Colleges (NAUSC). This initiative will provide a Canadian piping trades training and certification national standard for medical gas piping installations that will ensure safe and a productive worksites for anyone involved in installation and maintenance of piping systems in all areas of the piping trade in Canada.

Steam/Pipefitter IP Red Seal Challenge

Members are responsible for scheduling and for the cost of their IP Red Seal exam. Please contact ITA Customer Service (t: 778-328-8700) to schedule an exam date

Plumbing Maintenance & Repair

This course will offer students a basic understanding of the service industry covering service tools, safety, trouble shooting and repair of plumbing and mechanical systems, basic heating and controls, fixtures, paperwork and industry expectations.

Hearing Test

UA Local 170 members typically work in environments that have hazardous levels of noise (more than 85 dB averaged over an eight-hour shift), so it is important to have your hearing tested every year. UAPICBC provides Hearing Tests, by appointment, onsite at Delta Main Campus for members who need one as a condition for dispatch.

UA Standard for Excellence

Job Ready Dispatch Training (JRD)

The Job Ready Dispatch program is available for members working in the commercial sector. Effective October 2020, members dispatched to an employer working under the 170-CLR Commercial agreement will be required to be “Job Ready”.

BuildForce Canada

E-Learning

UAPICBC has partnered with BuildForce Canada to provide member’s with the following online training: Working in Respectful and Inclusive Workplace (RWP), First Level Supervisor Training Program (FLST), Communication, Negotiation, and Conflict Resolution (CNCR), Introduction to Construction Estimating (CIE), Construction Project Management (CPM), Construction Law (CL),  and Introduction to Building Information Modeling (BIM).
